What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for effecting deep, lasting change.  You can think of hypnotherapy as a process of aligning your wants and desires with your subconscious belief system, which controls your thoughts and behavior.  In hypnotherapy, we use relaxation and focused concentration to bypass the conscious mind and communicate directly with the subconscious, where real change takes place.

How does it work?

If you have a strong conscious desire for change or improvement in an area of your life but haven’t been successful in achieving it, your subconscious may be holding on to a thought or a belief that is not serving you and keeping you stuck.  

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state, and we go in and out of hypnosis every day.  We are in hypnosis just before we fall asleep and when we are just waking up. We are in hypnosis when we are engrossed in a daydream, movie, meditation, or a good book.  In hypnotherapy, we leverage deep states of relaxation and focused inward concentration to communicate directly with the most powerful part of the mind - the subconscious.  The subconscious mind is where your beliefs, habits, thought patterns, emotions, and values reside. By communicating your conscious desires to the subconscious mind in ways that it can understand and accept, we can change old limiting beliefs, thought patterns, and habits to implement change.

According to a study conducted by Dr. Alfred A. Barrios, psychoanalysis has a 38% recovery rate after 600 sessions, behavior therapy has a 72% recovery rate after 22 sessions, and hypnotherapy has a 93% recovery rate after only 6 sessions.

What will hypnotherapy feel like?

Many people describe being in hypnosis as being in the most profound state of relaxation they have ever been in.  This alone can be one of the greatest gifts of hypnotherapy. By achieving this relaxed state, your mind is in its most intuitive and creative state. I call this a resource state or a learning state.  It is likely you will experience the benefits of deep meditation. In fact, hypnotherapy is like meditation with a specific goal. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be good at meditation to achieve this state of relaxation.  I will guide you into this state easily and effectively using tools and techniques specific to hypnotherapy.

As your physical and mental tension dissolve, you will likely experience feelings of tranquility and peace.  In this state relaxed state, your mind can open up to new ideas, beliefs, and actions that are aligned with what you truly desire in your life. “What the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve” - You will readily let go of old thought patterns that are keeping you stuck in order to move into a state of freedom and ease.
